I totally thought that Hellz Bellz didn't receive my Valentine's Day card until I saw it on their blog. I'm glad that it made Misslawn's day. And really, I don't make home-made cards for just anybody.
I loved giving out Valentine's Day cards as a child, last time I passed out some were senior year of high school.. I gave out Hello Kitty ones with hugs&kisses. I'm not really crafty unless I want to be, but I remember when I gave out those Hello Kitty Valentine cards, I gave each person 3-4 Hershey's kisses that I put in some "small plastic bags" which were my brother's cheap card protectors that he never used, and I hole-punched the Valentine cards and used purple ribbon (similar to balloon ribbon but not with the ridges) to tie it onto the part where I hole-punched the card. I loved it. I love that I am capable to make things prettier than they already are, lol. I'm not even trying to brag. The weekend before Valentine's weekend, I was at Wal-Mart with my sister.. and I saw Harry Potter Valentine's cards.. I was going to buy it impulsively.. but I strayed away. But okay, that's not the story..
Valentine's Day, which just passed.. I decided to make my boyfriend a home-made card. Ever since I watched (500) Days of Summer.. I never really want to buy cards anymore. I mean, I like cards.. but it is true that we consume these Hallmark cards that aren't even our own words so we let a strangers words speak for us. Neh, I never thought of it like that.. while I finished my boyfriend's card, I decided to make one for my very good friend, Thessa, because Valentine's isn't only a day for significant others that you love, it's for all the other people you love as well (in my eyes).
I love Valentine's day very much, as much as a person who really dislikes the Hallmark holiday. It comes every year, you can never avoid it whether you are single or taken. I do believe Valentine's days is all about love. As I stated earlier, it's not just inlove with your significant other type love, but love for people who make you love life more. I then proceeded to make a Valentine card for Hellz Bellz, my favorite female streetwear brand.. why? Because they make life fun.. in what way? Tons. I have friends like Thessa and Angelica whom are very into Hellz Bellz as well, and I know they love Hellz. I'm just a crazy girl who likes to enter their contests and give them regular feedback on their blog, but that's not the point. The point is that, when I enter those contests.. I don't even just do it for myself, but my friends who also like the brand. It's hard to explain so I won't get further into it. I love the brand so much that I have met Misslawn twice during her sample sales in San Francisco at Fatlace (2008) and True (2009). I am that girl who took the first polaroid with Misslawn, and I am that girl who sent them their first fan mail. What can I say.. I love them and what they stand for. They're more than just a brand that caters to women.. they're human beings just like all of us who deserves to be loved.
Enough non-sense.. I gave out four home-made Valentine's Day cards. The fourth one went to my high school advisor, no.. not my counselor (she was awful). I haven't talked to my advisor in at least a year and she has helped me so much during my junior and senior year of high school but I couldn't reverse my underclassmen years, you know.. those days that I "didn't give a fcuk" about school. But as I got older, school is so important to me. As it should. I wish it didn't take me so long as my junior year of high school to realize that. But I will make my dreams happen, trust. Ms. Zales is one of the women who has made such a great impact on me, she's one of the fewest faculty of my high school whom I consider a relationship with.
I had two more Valentine cards to give out but didn't have to time to make. One was for my manager and crew members.. I love them and they're pretty much family. My manager is two years older than me, so I think her being young.. she can relate to us adolescents. Unfortunately, I couldn't make the card because my sister rushed me to pack when we headed to San Francisco last Friday (2/12). The other card was for my parents, but my sister told me that it's going to get thrown away. And yeah, I know my parents.. it will sit with the rest of their junk mail, literally. I will always love my parents unconditionally even if we have arguments, being strict and don't spoil me. I'm grateful for them to put a roof over my head.
Even if I didn't make you a card.. there are days that I do think about the important people in my life, and I love each one of them.
I'm a beginner at making these cards. I will improve. If you're special enough, maybe a home-made birthday card.. with no hearts (no pun intended). And yes, I love buttons. Ever since I took Sewing, I loved and appreciated buttons even more.
