WHO I'D LIKE TO MEET: SEAN DALEY,

For the longest time, I've wanted to meet the voice of the long-lived independent Hip Hop artists, Atmosphere's very own, Sean "Slug" Daley.

A couple of months ago, I found out that Atmosphere was performing at California State University Sacramento (which by the way is a beautiful campus and Jonathan agrees that it is better looking than SFSU). Since I moved back to San Francisco, I was sad that I was going to miss them another year yet again. But luckily, they performed within the time frame of my school break. I immediately bought tickets for my sister, Jonathan, and myself.

I remember when MySpace was the most popular social networking sites and they had those "Who I'd Like to Meet" modules. Slug was definitely on that list amongst others like M.I.A., Lanie Alabanza-Barcena, Leah McSweeney, etc. And I can say that I've met or seen half of those people in real life. I've been wanting to see Atmosphere perform live since I was fifteen.

Yesterday was the event, obviously. And the cool part was that in the entrance of the Union Ballroom, Slug was there taking pictures and signing autographs. There were a few annoying valley girls, and a girl actually turned her back and said to me "OMG, aren't you excited?! We are about to see Slug from Atmosphere!" Which she said in the most annoying voice. For me, I try to keep myself from being categorized as a groupie to a minimum. It's like, I love you, but I won't go out of my way. I didn't even know if I was going to get a picture with Slug, I just brought my Polaroid just in case. I apologize for the quality of the first picture, it's from the Polaroid scans.

And let me tell you this, Slug sounds like Slug. Just like he does when he's spitting rhymes out your speakers. It was a great performance and I really enjoyed it. I especially liked visiting Sacramento after not going back for almost 5 months and I brought some things I left behind.. not everything though, I still have tons of stuff back there. I actually miss living in Sacramento.
